On the 25th April the team behind the award-winning events location The Brewery unveiled their brand new stand-alone venue, The Grubstreet Author.
Entering through a private doorway on Milton Street, guests we’re invited to explore the three new spaces, while finding out more about the clandestine history behind Grubstreet, the bohemian area best known for publishing houses, poets and ‘hack writers’ during the 18th Century.
After receiving a welcome drink, guests made their way through the venue’s three distinct spaces; The Cutting Room, a fully functioning cinema auditorium for 48, The Sample Room a contemporary reception area for up to 70 and The Pasteur Room a striking space designed for private dining for up to 70.
The 90-strong crowd enjoyed canapés and bowl food including; Chorizo Madeline, pickled carrot, red cabbage, marinated octopus and sweetcorn puree; Tuna tacos with smoked salt guacamole, tequila atomiser and lotus crisp and Cornish crab doughnuts with lemon aioli. The menu was designed by The Grubstreet Author’s dedicated kitchen team including executive chef Andy Ritchie and Tony Rodd.
Attendees were also treated to a range of experiential cocktails in the form of an edible Elderflower Spritz jelly sweet and an edible vapour orb, all provided by Smith and Sinclair, as well as a selection of house cocktails from The Grubstreet Author mixologists.
Simon Lockwood, creative director said, ‘We’re delighted to unveil The Grubstreet Author following the complex task of transforming a previously derelict part of the original Whitbread Brewery into a series of luxurious event spaces. The venue is very much design-led and aims to offer event professionals something different from the norm. After seeing the spaces in all their glory, we’re confident that The Grubstreet Author will make a fantastic addition to the capital’s lively events scene, offering guests a truly unique approach to hosting.’
No matter the event, if it’s a high-profile presentation, awards dinner, conference, Christmas party or wedding reception, The Grubstreet Author is an inspiring and luxurious venue perfectly suited to cater for a variety of occasions.
